Povestiri din Rajahstan 37. Orasul Roz Jaipur / Stories of Rajahsthan 37. Jaipur, the Pink City

The Old Town or the Pink City is one of the main attractions in Jaipur. The color is more brisk-like or salmon than pink, and it was put on the houses in 1876 when the Prince of Wales has visited the town.

Still partially encircled by walls, the Pink City attracts tourists with the City Palace, Jantar Mantar, Hawa Mahal, bazaars, narrow streets and all kind of little shops, and a lot of people. Many houses, some of them abandoned, present the essential elements of the Rajput architecture.

One of the most attractive structure is Hawa Mahal or the Wind Palace, erected especially for the Maharani and her servants. Behind the beautifully carved windows (jhalis) they could see without to be seen. Hawa Mahal has 5 levels and 152 windows and it is one of the most photographed objective in Jaipur.

 in asteptarea clientilor

Imi place foarte mult Palatul Vanturilor.

Traveling Hawk said...

You are welcome, Joo!

Traveling Hawk said...

Multumesc, smalldot!

Traveling Hawk said...

VertAnge, cu siguranta un romancier ar putea broda ceva in jurul aceloir ferestre zabrelite,,,,

Interesant arata straziile acestui oras, foarte pitoresc.

Traveling Hawk said...

Cu placere, Sorin!

Traveling Hawk said...

As I already observed, everybody liked the Wind Palace, J_on_tour :)

Traveling Hawk said...
