Itinerar albanez 7. Mancarea / Albanian Itinerary 7. The Food

I have not much to add about the Albanian food versus what I wrote about Montenegro (http://travelinghawk.blogspot.com/2011/09/vacanta-in-muntenegru-7-mancarea.html). it has the same Balkanic characteristics.

May be the menu has not such a large offer. The apetizres and the salads are well represented, followed by meat (beef, veal, chicken) especially grilled and, of course, fish. Pastas and pizzas are to be found everywhere.

I noted for you some prices, for orientation. You may think at them in terms of 100 lek for 1 euro, that's what you will be cashed if you have no lek.

ciorba  (kind of soup)          250 lek
fish soup                              300 lek
different pastas               300-600 lek
fish                                 400-1200 lek
an espresso  coffee              50 lek
Cola can                            70 lek
byrek (cheese or  meat pie) 50 lek
Cornetto icecream           100-150 lek
1 l unleaded petrol          162-164 lek
one internet  hour                 60 lek

The sweets are well represented. The Balkanic sweets are of Oriental origins and are delicious.

o ciorba                      250 lek
ciorba de peste           300 lek
paste diverse              300-600 lek
peste                           400-1200 lek
o cafea espresso         50 lek
o doza de Cola            70 lek
o merdenea (byrek)     50 lek
o inghetata la cornet   100-150 lek
1 l benzina fara plumb 162-164 lek
o ora internet               60 lek

Au, in schimb, bine reprezentata categoria dulciurilor orientale.

Now I can spell Margherita, Prosciutto and Capricciosa in Albanian. 4 formaggi was slightly more difficult and Speciale is exactly the same...

You see how useful is a visit in Albania, VP?! :)

Traveling Hawk said...

Nu e prea indicat nici cand e frig, Ioana :)
